Popty Day Workshop : Tetrapak Taster : 10 May 25
The wonderful Lesley Crawley @printedmaterial62 is offering a one-day Tetrapak Taster workshop – or, as Lesley likes to call it, Tetrapak for the Tetrified!
Saturday 10 May 2025 • 10am–4pm • Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch • Limited to six participants • £60 per person including all materials
With its layers of paperboard, polyethylene and aluminium foil, Tetra Pak offers immediacy as a printing plate. This distinctive material gives us a tactile surface for cutting, scoring or peeling. By reusing milk, juice and soup cartons, there are opportunities to use the structure of the packaging as the spark of an idea that can be integrated into a print. Or you can just cut it up into smaller pieces! One package can go a long way…
It will be a day to try out the material and explore its versatility. We will be printing in black ink only and using chine collé to add colour overlays. We will be using a press, but will also look at how prints can be achieved without one.
The idea of the 'taster' is to familiarise yourself with the material and start to explore it as a printing medium. Lesley will have lots of examples to show and demonstrate even the simplest motif can make fabulous prints. Feel free to bring photos or ideas to see if they can be translated onto the material, or come with an open mind and see where it goes!
Suitable for adults with little or no printmaking experience.
