Expert printmaker Theresa Pateman is returning to build on the previous copper etching course, this time with a focus on soft ground etching.
Thursday 9 April 2026 • 10am–3pm • Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch • Limited to six participants • £52 per person including all materials.
In this workshop Theresa will guide us through the process of copper plate etching using a soft ground. Soft ground etching is an intaglio printmaking technique that uses as wax ground to create soft, textured lines resembling pencil drawings. We’ll be using the Little John etching press and printing with black and beautiful grey tones on cotton papers. Especially suitable for those who have done some etching before, but beginners are welcome.
